Perfectly imperfect

SO, I continually read my great friend Jessy's blog she writes about her and her wonderful fam. She had posted a very interesting link to another blog that got me writing this one. The following link is to a woman's blog that Jess avidly follows:

There you will find the woman who has inspired many people across the US to post their thoughts on perfection. At the end of the blog there are many inspired men and women posting their pictures as well take a look and join us!
All my life I have been picked on so to speak, prodded at, or nit pitcked to correct my spelling, grammar, punctuation, run on sentences. I have also been made to tuck in my shirt, or untwist my pants, skirt, dress (not that I wear these too often) Cover your mouth, turn to sneezae, say excuse me... as you can see there are probably run ons, spelling erros etc... i am resisting the urge in this blog to corrext (oops) them and show that I know its ok to be imperfext (all the while i correct my spelling and make myself leave th3e original errosr) This blog looks silly and I keep thinking "stefanie you are making yourself look as though you didnt pass english class." Oh well, for once I know its ok to have imprefect typing.
Not only with typing, but in my home, I am trying hard to realize I do not have to be perfect either. My home is cluttered, my laundry is folded in a basket in my room not put a way, but my house isnt DIRTY. I am finding it OK to slack... but a few days later I "nest" and clean clean clean to realize I am over doing it again. ;)
I am going to remind myself today: "I am too busy being a pregnant wife to be 'perfect'."

It's a GIRL!!

Well the anticipation and wait is over! We are having a girl!

Justin was very quiet at first and smiles and says "she's going to be daddy's girl you know that right?!" haha! Well of course! I am so happy! He will make such a wonderful dad! He is so great with our friends daughter Hannah, I know he will do just fine with our daughter!

Calleigh Renee Selseth~ Her heart rate has been in the 150's which I am told is great, she weighed roughly 14 oz as of friday... Funny how something SO little can cause such a thump in my tummy already!

We have been trying to prepare as much as possible without going "over board" and buying things we shouldn't yet since the baby shower will be in Dec. Luckily we have gotten things such as a changing table and clothing items that will be needed right off the bat, and the clothing later on down the road:

Justin was towing a customer last week who didn't speak much english, her daughter in law was with her to help explain the process of the tow, and where her car would be taken. While giving them a ride back to the shop where the car would be left, they engaged in small talk and he mentioned that we were going to be having a girl. After they came back to the shop, the gals expressed how sweet he was, how big of a help he was and how much they appreciated him helping them. The daughter in law explained they too had a little girl and would love to give us some clothing that she had outgrown. No objections here!! Honestly I didn't think they would follow through since we didn't know them at all but the gesture was nice. HOWEVER, 3 days later they came to the shop with two white garbage bags full of clothing sizes ranging from 12 months - 2t!! I was SHOCKED that there were so many clothes! Luckily I had an extra 18 gallon tote in the spare room that is now FULL of clothing for later. How lucky we are! =]

Dinner with friends

Wishing 5:30 would get here faster! After not seeing a friend of ours for a month well a little longer than that, due to his new job training, he is finally home for a little while but then off to Hawaii with his family.
Jason started long haul trucking recently, and since he has been gone across the US, I have seen his lovely little one and wife numerous times and had a blast, it will be good to see him as well!

Dinner should be great something about chicken and fajitas?! YUMM!!!

I have been clipping coupons and getting some in the mail, now if only I had a printer!! Well hopefully soon that will happen since walmart is now in Cornelius, and they have a pretty nice one for 49 bucks!

I have stolen these two sites from my dear friend Jess... Thanks Jessie!

Why I decided to blog?

I have read a few of my friends and family members blogs as well, each and everyone about their children and their family =]

Since being coaxed by several of them I decided to join the blogging as well. I probably will forget eventually or get busy, but then again I may need it to keep me sane ;)

Baby names?

We came up witha couple names in no time. Justin had been looking at names while he was in Iraq since we had talked about trying when he came home. Little did we know it would happen so soon. BUT thats ok!
Justin picked a first name for a boy and I picked for a girl. Middle names were easy for me, I want our first child(ren) to take our middle names: David/Renee. After looking at the names that Justin picked for a girl (yes he also picked out about 10!) I decided on one, but later was reminded my step sisters daughter had that first name. Back to the drawing board if its a girl. I finally came up with one I really liked. Here are our final choices:

Grayson David Selseth or Calliegh Renee Selseth

Other names we considered were:
Jackson/Landin

Kaelee/Faith/ Skye

How the baby came about?

We began the transition of Justin getting used to being home, going back to work, having a civilian life again. Times were TOUGH for us the first couple months. Words cannot explain what a soldier goes through coming home from a completely different world. I was used to being independant again, and he was not used to being home and "free."
Out of nowhere, I had been VERY exhausted for about a month and cranky beyond belief. I thought I was just going to have that time of the month any day due to my irritability and crankiness. Although I had stomache pains for well over a week, I noticed I was a week late. Once I stepped back to think and look at the calendar I realized I really was late and began to wonder. I had a trick in mind that worked in the past and was more of a funny joke rather. When I was late and made myself paraniod in the past, I just got a dollar tree test and BAM! The next day our lovely womanly friend arrived.
This time however, I was afraid to even test this theory again. Knowing my mother had a "tummy ache" and went to the hospital only to find out that it wasn't a tummy ache, it was ME! I was a little, well ok, a lot afraid I was pregnant as well. The very next day I couldn't stand the unknown any longer, I bought 3 tests.......
I followed directions to a T. Now came the wait. I anxiously waited in the bathroom at home alone, glancing and looking away thinking "a watched pot never boils...a watched test takes forever!" About the third time I looked I saw a single line....WHEW!! I thought, I washed my hands and glanced back for some reason..."WAIT ...WHAT IS THAT!!????" I thought to myself. A faint second line slowly turned darker. I was so afraid. Don't get me wrong, I love kids and most know this, but the tough transition we were going through and my husband trying to get used to being home I had NO clue how to spring this on him. ;)
All in all after knowing for a few hours and shock rubbing off, I began to get excited and couldn't keep quiet. I told one person and that turned to 5 as I began to share the happiness I felt with everyone once I went to the Doctor to confirm. =] Justin did have a hard time at first with the idea, due to an overwhelming change of worlds and only being home for a month before our little Gummi bear began growing. He is now just as excited as I am, and even more so some days. I find him rubbing my belly while watching tv, or just placing his hand on my belly because " I like rubbing your belly and trying to touch the gummi bear.... I'm trying to feel it move!" =]

How we met?

Justin and I met in person at Starbucks on 185th in Beaverton after meeting online and talking over the phone. I really had no intentions of meeting him at first, just thought he was interesting to chat with and get to know. He was quite funny and we had a lot in common. However something kept him in my thoughts for days. After meeting we discovered we actually had run into each other in years past but never interacted. I had watched him wrestle in high school at tournements that Glencoe was at, I had watched him race (and win!) the year before I met him, just two of many run ins. We met New years eve 2008 and started dating 4 days later. In all honesty we never left each others sides except to go to work. We just hit it off that well. We began dating January 5th, 2008 and married January 5th 2009, shortly after being married Justin left for Iraq and returned home April 22nd, 2010.
